Ask locally where it's worth having a coffee, eating, listening to live highlander music, and which buildings are worth a closer look. There are also many interesting art galleries and a whole lot of well-equipped tourist shops here.
A stay in the mountains is a great opportunity to stock up on sporty, comfortable clothes. :)
