Morskie Oko is a must-see trip in the Tatra Mountains.
The starting point is the parking lot at Palenica Białczańska, which can be reached by car through Zakopane, Jaszczurówka (a historic chapel in the Witkiewicz style), Zazadnia, or through Poronin and Bukowina (about 25 km), as well as by buses running from the Zakopane station. The road from Palenica to Morskie Oko is 9 kilometers long, and the more lazy can use the horse-drawn tram running to the Włosienica clearing (1.6 km from the famous lake).
The arduous hike is rewarded by a beautiful view of the mountain lake and the rocky peaks of the High Tatras rising above it. The original name (Rybi Staw) indicates that the trout, which can be clearly seen in the crystal-clear water, were not artificially introduced by humans but are part of the natural fauna of the Tatras.
